Program Overview

04 Our Ph.D. program is a research-oriented International Program with course work in the first year. A doctorate student is assigned to work with a senior supervisor who provides continuous assessment of the student’s performance

In 2011, Chulalongkorn University’s School of Social Sciences, with Department of Economics among them, is ranked at 68th by QS World University Rankings or 16th in Asia, and the highest among the School of Social Sciences in Thailand. Also, in 2012, the Faculty of Economics has been ranked at 2nd for the top 25% institutions and economists in Thailand according to the RePEc Author Service.

In our Ph.D. program, you will join a selective and small class within the department with numerous nationally and international known faculty members, and well-equipped facilities. The program and the department offer a broad range of interests, for example, macroeconomics, microeconomics, international economics, health economics, public economics, industrial organization and labor economics. Graduates of our programs will acquire comprehensive knowledge in economics together with well-rounded research skills.

The success of our program has been supported by the outstanding placement records of our alumni who are now working in college/university, for example, Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Kasetsart University (Thailand), Tribhuvan University (Nepal), Thai Nguyen University (Vietnam), and many local universities as well as working in leading companies and research institutions.
